Bernstein, gross gaming revenue is not rising as expected despite the increase in visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Macau&#8217;s gross gaming revenue (GGR) in the\u00a0week from\u00a0September\u00a014 to 20 inclusive was MOP1.8 billion (US$225.5 million), despite an increase in tourism since the resumption of IVS visas for mainlanders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the first 20 days of September, the\u00a0average daily rate was\u00a0MOP90\u00a0million,\u00a0down 88 per cent from the prior year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors numbers to Macau \u201ccontinue to\u00a0climb\u201d,\u00a0Bernstein says, reaching 18,400 on September\u00a016, up from approximately 5,000 a day in early August, due to the resumption of visas for people coming from the neighbouring province of Guangdong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The researchers said: \u201cWe expect the visitation to continue to increase over the next several months. Visa issuances for the rest of mainland China will begin on September 23 and should begin to boost visitation and GGR by mid-October, but Golden Week is likely to be subdued.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The comments coincide with those of Ambrose So Shu Fai, chief executive of Macau casino operator SJM Holdings,\u00a0who recently said the Macau market\u2019s GGR in Golden Week <strong><em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-golden-week-may-reach-only-30-of-2019-ggr\" target=\"_blank\">may only be \u201c30 to 35 per cent\u201d<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0that seen last year due to border measures, social distancing and other factors related to the pandemic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to a report from Sanford C.
