It was able to resume VIP operations in May, but new measures were imposed in August due to a second wave of Covid-19 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a filing to the Korea Exchange, Kangwon Land said it expected lost casino sales for the period from 10am on August 23 to 6am on\u00a0October 5 to amount to KRW53.9\u00a0billion (US$46.4\u00a0million), based on daily-average casino sales during the first half of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kangwon Land resort is located about 150 kilometres (93 miles) from the country\u2019s capital Seoul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of 12am on\u00a0Sunday, South Korea had recorded\u00a082\u00a0new Covid-19 cases in the preceding 24 hours, taking the national tally of infections to 22,975,\u00a0according to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The casino resort in South Korea was scheduled to reopen today but will remain closed until at least October 5.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":10168,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Kangwon Land, South Korea's exclusive casino permitting local patronage, has extended its temporary operational suspension until October 5th due to ongoing COVID-19 containment measures.
