The local government has rejected a petition calling for it to drop its plan to participate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A petition examined on September 11 by the\u00a0City Council Building, Urban Development and Road Committee, urged the city to withdraw its interest in the IR bidding process and to draft a new business plan for the city not including a casino.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Masato Yamashita, a member of the city council and the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, said he understood the signees&#8217; concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cI do understand the sentiment of the petitioners. I hate gambling and do not gamble.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yokohama\u2019s bid for an IR has attracted interest from Pixel\u00a0Companyz\u00a0in association with\u00a0Partouche, and\u00a0Get Nice Holdings along with Current Corp.
