Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance has given its support for casino projects in Da Nang and Nha Trang City’s Hon Tre island.

Vietnam.- Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance (MOF) has asked the prime minister to allow the development of two casino projects, one in Da Nang, and another on Nha Trang City’s Hon Tre island. According to MOF’s latest report, many localities and businesses want to develop new casinos, and these two projects, in particular, could potentially foster tourism growth.

Da Nang is a city in the central region that has no large-scale casino. There is now one small casino, Silver Stores, that has been operating effectively. Its payment to the state budget ranked third among casinos, reported Vietnamnet. The second project is located in the service and tourism complex on Hon Tre Island in Nha Trang City.

However, the MOF has rejected a casino project in Binh Thuan, because it considers the province still cannot satisfy the infrastructure requirements to attract foreign travellers. It also notes there is a casino nearby – Ho Tram Casino in the Xuyen Moc district in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, which operates ineffectively considering the scale of investment.

Now it is up to the prime minister to decide whether to approve the development of the two projects. Currently, there are nine operational casinos nationwide.
