The Londoner Macao officially opens

The London-inspired casino resort on the Cotai Strip held its official Phase I opening today.

Macau.- President of Sands China, Wilfred Wong has inaugurated phase I of the operator’s revamped and renamed Cotai casino resort, The Londoner.

The launch event was held at the resort’s Crystal Palace, inspired by the concept of the original Victorian structure at London’s Great Exhibition of 1851.

The casino will have capacity for up to 450 tables and 2,000 slot machines. It will be able to seat 1,700, while an additional 370,000 square feet of meeting space will cater to the MICE market.

At the opening ceremony, Wong said: “we bring to you a piece of London with the best of British history and culture, and a hospitality experience that expertly fuses the traditional and contemporary, starting with this spectacular Crystal Palace and its classic Victorian design, as well as the all-suite The Londoner Hotel.”

The inauguration takes place just ahead of Chinese New Year. Venues are hoping for an increase in revenues over the holiday period despite China’s advice against travel.
