Thailand: Bangkok police bust gambling den

Police swoop on house where illegal gambling activity was taking place while the country remains in lockdown due to Covid-19.

Thailand.- Police busted a gambling den in Bangkok’s Dusit district after an investigation revealed people were gambling despite the activity being illegal in the country, which is currently on lockdown due to Covid-19.

According to local press, 12 people were arrested in the raid. The gambling den was operating during curfew hours, from 10pm to 4am, Pol Colonel Sorapong Nakayokee, superintendent of Sam Sen Police Station, told The Nation newspaper.

In the raid, police found 10 gamblers and evidence of gaming activity.

The owner of the single-storey house, identified as 57-year-old Puangpakam, and den operator, Thanachai, 37, were among the suspects arrested.
