Police in Thailand have carried out a new series of raids that ended with the arrest of 14 people.

Thailand.- Investigations around illegal gambling website Gimi88 have led to the arrests of 14 more suspects. Police also seized assets worth more than THB75m from the alleged owner of the gambling website, which was shut down after the arrest of 46 suspects on February 8.

On February 24, police arrested Chanonpat Naksua, chairman of Nakhon Si Thammarat Football Club on suspicion of running the website and laundering money through his football club. During the latest raids, officers seized three cars, THB50m and other items. Police also revealed that up to THB1bn was found circulating via the illegal gambling website.

A month ago, a police raid in Pattaya, Thailand, ended with the seizure of $15m from alleged illegal gambling operators and the arrest of 42 people. Police carried out the raid at the four-star Le Vernissage Hotel in North Pattaya.
