Thailand: 13 casino workers arrested
The group is in quarantine and will face prosecution, according to authorities.
Thailand.- Thai soldiers have arrested 13 people who had been working at a casino in Myawaddy, according to reports by the Bangkok Post.
The army patrol found the 11 men and 2 women in a sugar plantation close to the border of Ban Wang Takhian Tai village in Tha Sai Luad tambon.
The group said they had been working at a casino in Myawaddy and were waiting for motorcyclists to take them to the centre of the village.
They have been placed in quarantine at Phu Inn in Mae Pa tambon, Mae Sot district, and will face prosecution, authorities say, since gambling is illegal in Thailand.
Meanwhile, Thailand’s Prime Minister has denied involvement with illegal gambling dens in the country following allegations from opposition party members.
There has been talk of the possibility of legalising gambling as a way to tackle the problem of illegal gambling dens.
