Sri Lanka arrests eight Indian nationals over alleged online gambling operation
Police seized 39 mobile phones and six computers in a raid near Colombo.
Sri Lanka.- Sri Lankan police have reportedly arrested eight Indian nationals over an alleged illegal online gambling operation in Thalawathugoda, near Colombo. The arrests followed a raid on a residence by Thalangama Police, reportedly acting on information that foreign nationals were conducting online gambling activities from the property. A search warrant was obtained from the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court before the operation.
Police seized six computers, 39 mobile phones and a large quantity of computer accessories during the raid. The suspects, aged between 22 and 51, remain in police custody while investigations continue. The investigation is being handled by Thalangama Police, with authorities seeking to establish the scale of the alleged operation and whether it was linked to a wider network.
