South Korea.- The Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has reported increases in police support, inspections and training activities to tackle illegal gambling in the first half of the year. The regulator said it provided on-site support in 248 police operations targeting illegal gambling-linked PC cafés, up 24 per cent from the same period last year.
It sayas it also supported 1,220 enforcement cases through analysis of illegal gaming, an 18.9 per cent year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, it held 54 training sessions on illegal game enforcement techniques for 1,049 police officers, more than doubling participation compared with the first half of 2025.
The regulator has also intensified follow-up inspections. After rechecking illegal gambling-linked PC cafés that had previously violated facility regulations, GRAC requested administrative action against 109 businesses where repeat violations were identified.
GRAC said it will continue supporting police investigations into the production and distribution of illegal games while strengthening public awareness initiatives and institutional measures.
