Sands China hosts school kids for careers programme

The Venetian Macao resort has welcomed secondary school students to the Diverse Exploration Lab.

Macau.- Sands China hosted nearly 20 secondary school students from the Macau Anglican College at The Venetian Macao resort in three days of experiences at the integrated resort’s Diverse Exploration Lab. It said the programme aimed to aid career planning and provide knowledge of the local tourism industry.

The programme included a behind-the-scenes, interactive exploration of the operations of major departments, tours, a lunch chat with team members and a workshop.

Paulo Cheong, senior vice president of human resources for Sands China, commented: “Sands China has always placed significant importance on talent development. Over the last 20 years, Sands China’s integrated resorts have created over 1,400 new job types and provided over 80,000 job opportunities for Macao residents.

“We are glad to work closely with local schools to offer the extensive experience and insights of our professional team and our expansive operations to help equip the next generation with information they need for their future academic and career planning. We hope this will lead to more local youth engaging in the tourism industry, thus contributing to the city’s development as a world centre of tourism and leisure.”
