Sands China and Melco named in S&P Sustainability Yearbook

The operators have been recognised for their sustainability initiatives.

Macau.- Sands China and Melco have been recognised in the 2026 edition of the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook.

Sands came in the top 1 per cent of companies assessed in both the global and China rankings and was named an “Industry Mover” in the China edition for the second consecutive year after seeing a significant improvement in its Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) score compared with the previous year.

To be listed , companies must score within the top 15 per cent of their industry and must achieve a S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment score within 30 per cent of their industry’s top-performing company. This year, over 9,200 companies assessed in the 2025 CSA were considered for the 2026 Sustainability Yearbook. Some 800 across 59 industries were selected for Yearbook inclusion.

Melco ranked in the 96th percentile within its industry group, rising from 92nd the previous year.

Grant Chum, chief executive officer and executive director of Sands China, said the recognition highlighted the company’s long-term commitment to sustainable operations. “Sustainability is the cornerstone of corporate resilience and long-term development,” Chum said. “These recognitions fully affirm our continued investment and achievements in innovation and long-term planning.”

The company said it delivered 1.8 million hours of workforce training in 2025 and reduced its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 61 per cent compared with 2018 levels, surpassing its environmental targets.
