Sands China decries gambling site using its brand

Sands China has denounced a gambling website operating under the name of “Sands Macao”.

Macau.- Sands China has affirmed that it has no connection to a website named “Sands Macao”, which has been offering online gaming since 2020.

It said the company has no relationship with the gambling website and that the Public Security Department in China’s Guangdong province is investigating the site.

The casino operator said: “Sands Online Gambling Corp is using our company’s property name and trademarks without our permission and in breach of the law.

“[The company] does not engage in online gambling activities of any kind and vigorously pursues all reports of trademark infringement.”

China is actively committed to ending cross-border gambling cases and arrested 110,000 people in the past year.

The Public Security Department from Guangdong has offered those involved in cross-border gambling a more lenient treatment if they turn themselves to the authorities by April 30.

In January, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism made a second selection of overseas gambling destinations to add to its blacklist.
