Sands China launches cutting-edge hybrid energy system

Macau casino operator replaces gas boiler with state of the art solar thermal heat pump hybrid energy plant.

Macau.- Casino operator Sands China has announced that it is launching the first solar thermal-heat pump hybrid energy plant at its Sands Cotai Central facility.

The new system will provide heating and cooling for the 2,000 hotel rooms at the Sky Tower at Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel, Cotai Strip, and will replace the natural gas boiler currently being used.

“Sustainability, including energy and water efficiency, is part of Sands China’s operating DNA,” Wilfred Wong, President of Sands China, said.

“We are very excited about embracing renewable energy in our business operations wherever possible to mitigate impact from fossil fuel energy sources, and this aligns with our commitment to environmental leadership in the market and to building a sustainable future,” he added.

Amid the ongoing pandemic crisis, the casino operator recently announced that its board of directors decided not to recommend paying the shareholder dividend for FY19.

However, its financial situation remain stable.
