Sands China adds former Cisco executive to board after Strasser exit
Steven Zygmunt Strasser has left the board after more than 13 years as a director.
Macau.- Sands China has appointed former Cisco Greater China executive Siu Hera Kitwan to its board following Steven Zygmunt Strasser’s departure after more than 13 years as a director. Siu will also serve on the company’s audit committee as part of her new board role. Both appointments took effect on September 23, according to the company’s filing with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
Siu, 67, was chief executive officer of Cisco Systems in Greater China before retiring from the company in 2020. She currently serves as a non-executive director of Goodyear and as an independent director of ASMPT and Vallourec.
Siu’s appointment is for an unspecified term, subject to the company’s requirement for directors to retire by rotation and seek re-election at least once every three years. Sands China said she will receive about US$270,000 a year in director’s fees, with no additional fee for serving on the audit committee.
Sands China said Strasser, who joined the company on May 31, 2013, stepped down from the board and his committee roles to devote more time to personal engagements. Chung Kit Yi Kitty, an existing independent non-executive director and audit committee member, has taken over as chairlady of the remuneration committee.
Strasser will continue working with Sands China as a consultant alongside the company’s senior management. Sands China’s current board comprises two executive directors, two non-executive directors and five independent non-executive directors following the changes. The company operates integrated resorts in Macao and is a subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands Corp.
