Queensland opens new Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants round
The latest round offers one-off grants to not-for-profit organisations.
Australia.- The Queensland Government has opened Round 127 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF). It’s offering grants of up to AU$35,000 (US$25,000) to eligible not-for-profit community organisations across the state.
The GCBF is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants programme, with more than AU$60m (US$43m) distributed each year. It provides one-off funding from gambling revenue for projects such as upgrades to community facilities or to purchase equipment and vehicles, run community programmes and events and provide local services and activities.
The application window for the latest round of grants will close on September 28, 2026 via a new online system intended to simplify the process. Successful applicants will be announced in December, while the programme information notes that funding outcomes can take up to four to five months after the closing date.
The fund has been operating since 1994 and is an important mechanism for directing gambling-derived government revenue towards grassroots community infrastructure and services. Grants are provided as a single payment for a specific project or initiative rather than as ongoing operational funding.
