Police in India arrest three for illegal gambling after viral video controversy
Police raided an alleged gambling den after a video sparked public concern and questions over oversight.
India.- Police in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, have arrested three people during a raid on an alleged illegal gambling operation after a video went viral. The operation was launched following the circulation of footage showing dozens of people reportedly gambling in the Gudh Chauraha area at a site known locally as “Kali ka Adda.”
Police say they seized cash and playing cards. They described the suspects as repeat offenders. The case has raised questions about how the alleged gambling operation was able to function openly for an extended period without police intervention. Officers said investigations are continuing and that more people could face legal action.
The police are focusing on identifying facilitators and financiers, while patrolling has been stepped up in a bid to prevent gambling from restarting under different operators.
