Indian police target alleged online betting operation at hotel
Four men have been arrested in Assam.
India.- Police in India’s Assam state have arrested four men following a raid on a hotel in Dhubri. The raid took place at room 57 of Afreen Hotel on NS Road at about 11.15am, after police received intelligence.
The men arrested were identified as Haran Ali (20), Abdul Matin (20), Hosen Ali (20) and Osman Gani (22), all residents of Dhubri district and neighbouring South Salmara. Police seized six mobile phones.
Dhubri Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Pritam Das said data extracted from the phones showed transactions in US dollars and other foreign currencies, raising the possibility that the operation had links to an international network. The suspects remain in custody. Police said the investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify other individuals or organisations.
