Picklebet fined for breaching Australia’s BetStop rules
ACMA found the operator accepted bets from a self-excluded customer, ahead of tougher penalties coming in 2027.
Australia.- Licensed wagering provider Puntaa Pty Ltd, trading as Picklebet, has paid an AU$19,800 (US$13,900) penalty for breaching Australia’s national self-exclusion rules under BetStop. An investigation by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) found that on February 9, 2026, it accepted bets from an individual who had registered with BetStop earlier that same day.
Under national regulation, wagering companies are prohibited from offering services to anyone registered on the self-exclusion platform. Picklebet closed the account later that day. The action follows a previous ACMA investigation reported in January, which found that Picklebet and five other operators breached BetStop rules during 2024.
Regulators noted that new legislation taking effect on January 1, 2027, will increase penalties for self-exclusion violations.
