Authorities in The Philippines have decided to keep the country under Alert Level 2 Covid-9 restrictions due to the new Omicron strain.
The Philippines.- The government of The Philippines has decided to keep the country under Alert Level 2 until the end of the year. Authorities also stated it is not possible to downgrade the level of Covid-19 alert due to uncertainty surrounding the Omicron strain. Casinos in Metro Manila will continue operating on a limited basis.
Cabinet secretary Karlo Nograles said: “We are being very cautious because we observe the threat of the Omicron in other places, other countries, territories, and jurisdictions where the variant is detected, cases continue to increase.”
In November, City of Dreams Manila announced it had increased its casino gaming floor capacity from 75 per cent to 90 per cent. However, it had to reduce its capacity again. The Philippines has recorded its first two cases of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
