Philippine gaming GGR falls 11.4% in Q3
Inflationary pressures and geopolitical uncertainties were among the factors cited by PAGCOR for the lower gaming revenue recorded during the quarter.
The Philippines.- The Philippine gaming sector generated PHP83.72bn (US$1.33bn) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in the third quarter of 2026. That’s a drop of 11.4 per cent year-on-year and 5 per cent from the second quarter.
According to figures released by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR), the decline was primarily driven by a drop in electronic gaming revenue, which fell 22.9 per cent to PHP35.28bn (US$560.61m) from PHP45.73bn (US$726.56m) a year earlier. PAGCOR chairman and chief executive Alejandro Tengco attributed the weaker performance partly to inflationary pressures and geopolitical uncertainties affecting consumer spending.
Licensed commercial casinos recorded PHP45.38bn (US$721.01m) in GGR, marginally below the PHP45.56bn (US$723.87m) reported in the corresponding quarter of 2025. Their contribution represented 54.2 per cent of total industry revenue.
Meanwhile, PAGCOR-operated Casino Filipino properties generated another PHP3.03bn (US$48.15m), down from PHP3.18bn (US$50.53m) a year earlier. Together, the two casino categories generated PHP48.41bn (US$769.16m), accounting for approximately 57.8 per cent of the industry’s third-quarter GGR.
Despite the decline in third-quarter GGR, Tengco noted that the rate of contraction had moderated compared with the second quarter, when industry revenue fell 20.3 per cent year-on-year. He said: “We recognise the challenges facing the industry, but the slower pace of decline in the third quarter is an encouraging development.”
He added: “We will continue to work closely with our licensees to strengthen industry performance while ensuring that gaming activities are conducted responsibly and in accordance with regulatory standards.”
