Philippine DOLE confirms dates of another job fair for former offshore gaming workers

The job fair will be held on November 19 and 20.

The Philippines.- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has announced that a new job fair for workers who have been displaced from internet gaming licensees (IGLs) will be held on November 19 and 20 from 9am to 4pm at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Music Hall.

The DOLE said: “Do not miss this opportunity as you could be the next one to get hired-on-the-spot (HOTS).”

DOLE secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma previously said the department was profiling displaced workers to evaluate their skills, job history, and income to customise the support services provided. He said that at a previous fair in Parañaque City on October 10, 340 job seekers registered, resulting in 33 immediate hires.

The DOLE is also working with the Department of Migrant Workers to explore overseas job prospects for those impacted. It has been estimated that  40,962 Filipino workers will be affected by the closure of offshore gaming operators by the end of the year.
