Pakistani YouTuber Ducky Bhai given 14-day judicial remand

A bail hearing is set for September 12.

Pakistan.- Saad ur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, has been given a 14-day judicial remand by a Lahore court. The YouTuber was arrested at Allama Iqbal International Airport last month on charges of allegedly promoting illegal online gambling apps.

Authorities claim he used his YouTube channel, which has over 8 million subscribers, to promote unregulated gambling apps, which allegedly defrauded users by failing to deliver promised returns. The NCCIA alleges that Rehman acted as a “country manager” for one app.

He faces charges under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for electronic forgery, fraud, spamming, and spoofing, as well as cheating and dishonesty under the Pakistan Penal Code. If convicted, he could face fines, content bans or jail.

In the latest hearing, Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo rejected the NCCIA’s request for an eight-day extension of Rehman’s physical remand, instead ordering 14 days under judicial custody.

Rehman’s lawyer, Chaudhry Usman Ali, has made a bail application, arguing that accusations lack evidence of financial harm to users and that the charges are bailable. The bail hearing is set for September 12.
