New South Wales delays plans to restrict daily cash limit for gaming
The current limit will be maintained until August 2027.
Australia.- The New South Wales government has announced a delay in plans to restrict cash use at The Star Sydney and Crown Sydney. The current daily cash limit of AU$5,000 (US$3,100) for gaming will be maintained until August 19, 2027.
Under transitional arrangements, the limit was to decrease from AU$5,000 to AU$1,000 (US$620) from August 19 as part of measures to address problem gambling, money laundering and financial crime by reducing cash transactions. However, the current limit will now remain in effect for another two years, subject to conditions, including monitoring the use of cash and providing reports to Liquor & Gaming NSW. It’s the second time in two years that the government has delayed imposing a new limit.
