Nagasaki: 3 operators selected for next IR round

Oshidori International Holdings, Casinos Austria International and the Niki Chau Fwu Group are the three operators selected by Nagasaki prefecture to move forward into the next round.

Japan.- Nagasaki’s prefectural government has announced the three operators that it has selected as potential partners for its bid to develop an integrated resort at the site of the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Sasebo.

The five initial contenders for the bid have been whittled down to three operators, who will progress to the next round.

Oshidori International Holdings, Casinos Austria International and Niki Chau Fwu Group will now enter a competitive dialogue with the prefecture and city to be held in May.

The two bidders that didn’t make it to the next round were Current Group and One Kyushu.

In June, the companies will have to submit secondary examination documents. Nagasaki is due to select its final candidate in August.

The successful IR partner will have to pay JPY158m (US$1.5m) for the Request for proposal process and JPY10m (US$92,000) for a background check. Nagasaki hopes to begin its IR development in the mid or late 2020s.

Japan plans to initially approve three integrated resorts in the country. Proposals must be submitted to the national Government by 2022 and must include a casino, tourism attractions and hotel amenities.
