Michael Issenberg, the current chairman of Tourism Australia, has joined the board of Australia’s Star Entertainment Group.

Australia.- Star Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of Michael Issenberg as a non-executive director subject to regulatory approvals being obtained. Issenberg has been chairman of Tourism Australia since October 2021. 

An experienced executive and director with over 30 years experience in the hotel industry, he is also chairman of Reef Corporate Services Limited, the company responsible for Reef Casino Trust. 

Previously, he held executive roles with AccorHotels for over 25 years, most recently as chairman and CEO of AccorHotels Asia Pacific. Issenberg was formerly CEO of Mirvac Hotels, following a career that took him through Westin Hotels and Resorts, Laventhol & Horwath, and Horwath & Horwath Services in San Francisco and Sydney.

Star chairman John O’Neill, said: “Michael has impeccable credentials and extensive experience across the hotel industry. His appointment provides a valuable and complementary addition to the Board as The Star continues developing and transforming our world-class properties.”

Issenberg holds a degree in hotel administration from Cornell University, USA and is a Lifetime Member of the Cornell Hotel Society. He is also a Lifetime Member of Tourism & Transport Forum Australia.

Issenberg said: “I am pleased to be joining The Star Entertainment Group at such an exciting time in the company’s development growth trajectory and as the tourism industry begins its recovery from the pandemic. I look forward to utilising my extensive industry experience to complement the current diverse board.”
