Guests were allegedly left without accommodation after a pricing mistake on deals booked through online travel agencies.

Macau.- The Macau Tourism Board will investigate an alleged pricing mistake that left guests without accommodation at Galaxy Hotel in Cotai.

Guests say they booked stays at the Galaxy Entertainment Group’s hotel through online travel agencies at prices as low as HKD19 (US$2.45) per night.

According to social media posts, once guests checked-in, the hotel realised there had been a mistake with the price they were charged and asked them to leave.

The Macao Government Tourism Office has said it is investigating the complaints.

The hotel operator issued a statement on its social media page saying that prices advertised were not the correct prices given to travel agencies and that it was working to prevent any future mistakes.

It advised affected guests to contact the online travel agencies through which they booked to ask for a solution..

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Macau casino resort is planning to open phase three of its development in Cotai, which includes a luxury hotel tower, an Andaz-branded luxury hotel and a conference centre, in mid-2021.

The group is trying to meet the original deadline for the project the Covid-19 pandemic, but expects works continue until mid-2021.
