Meg Star International Group makes big donation to help people affected by Coronavirus.
Macau.- Meg-Star International Charity Association, the charity arm of the Meg-Star Group, has donated MOP$10 million (€1.1 million) to help in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus outbreak.
Meg-Star Group said the charity has established the “Wuhan Coronavirus Special Fund” to accelerate anti-epidemic measures in Wuhan and the Hubei province to contain the spread of the virus.
The operators has also allowed staff at its Macau property to take Thursday and Friday off in order to reduce the risk of the virus spreading.
“The health and safety of guests and staff are the utmost priority of Meg-Star,” the operator said in a statement.
Meg-Star Group will also increase the size of its donation depending on whether authorities and other charities are able to halt Coronavirus from spreading even further.
“Meg-Star Group has abided by the national strategic plan of ‘One Country Two Systems,” the company explained.
“With the strong backing from the mainland, Meg-Star Group has contributed to economic development in the best endeavors of Macau. As such, in the spirit of giving back to society, Meg-Star has established Meg-Star International Charity Association since 2017, which focuses on supporting community charity, poverty and disaster alleviation.
“Meg-Star International Charity Association also organized volunteer teams to Guizhou, Qinghai, Gansu and other mountainous areas for charity work and encouraged employees to participate in the community by spreading positive energy to the society,” the company added.
