Malaysia: two raids on illegal gambling in Serian

Police have made four arrests in two raids on illegal gambling operations in Serian, in the state of Sarawak.

Malaysia.- Police in Serian, Malaysia, have carried out two raids on alleged illegal gambling operations.

Officers arrested three people on a raid on an eatery after finding them allegedly playing a game of ‘holo’. Other suspects escaped, but police seized gambling paraphernalia and cash.

In another raid, police arrested a male suspect at a coffeeshop for allegedly selling online gambling top-ups.

All four suspects were handed over to the police district’s Criminal Investigations Department.

Malaysian businessman arrested for bribery in gambling case

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), meanwhile has arrested a man for allegedly bribing someone to help gain the release of 22 Chinese nationals who were detained on suspicion of being involved in an online gambling syndicate and scam inMacau.

The 44-year-old man carries the title of “Datuk Seri,” which denotes a high rank in Malaysian society.
