Macau’s VIP gambling falls in 2019
Mass market revenues the largest in Macau after VIP gambling fell in 2019, official numbers reveal.
Macau.- Revenue from large-scale VIP gambling in Macau totalled MOP135.2 billion (€15.2 billion) last year, down 18.6 percent from 2018. The decline means that mass market revenues are now the largest in the City.
According to data released by the Macau’s Directorate of Inspection and Coordination of Gambling (DICJ), revenues from VIP betting rooms tumbled by MOP30.8 billion (€3.4 billion) compared to the prior year.
For the past five years, VIP betting has counted for more than 50% of overall gambling revenues in the region, but in 2019 the figure was 46.2%.
Macau’s casinos had overall 2019 revenues of 292.4 billion patacas, down 3.4 percent on 2018.
