Macau.- The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has announced that Helena de Senna Fernandes has been reappointed as director of office until 2027. The Macau government said the Secretary for Economy and Finance had renewed Senna Fernandes’ role for two years due to her “suitable management skills and professional experience in performing her duties”.

Senna Fernandes was appointed MGTO director in 2012. Her term was set to expire on December 20 this year but will now run until December 20, 2027.

Last month, Senna Fernandes expressed optimism for August as Macau’s hotel occupancy rate stands at around 90 per cent. She expects a daily average of 110,000 visitor arrivals in July and August, almost a 2.2 per cent increase from 2024’s average of 107,628.

The MGTO has projected that annual visitor arrivals in 2025 would reach between 38 and 39 million. Macau recorded nearly 23 million visitors in the first seven months of 2025, with 3.45 million arrivals in July. Occupancy rates for the first half of this year were 89 per cent.
