Macau reports highest GGR since January

Revenue for October reached MOP7.2bn, still down by 72.5 per cent year-on-year.

Macau.- Gross gaming revenue was down by 72.5 per cent year-on-year in October to MOP7.2 billion (US$910.5 million).

The figure is the best monthly result since January and a 230 per cent rise from the MOP2.2 billion reported in for September.

The improvement came as border measures were eased with the resumption of tourists visas for Chinese residents.

The Golden Week holiday period between October 1 and 8 did not boost the business as much as expected. Visitors reached 156,300 compared to almost 1 million last year. However, as of the end of October, an average of 40,000 daily visitors were entering the city, up from 15,000 in September.

Cumulative gaming revenues for the first 10 months of the year are down by 81.4 per cent year-on-year at MOP45.8 billion.
