Macau MICE attendees down 8.7% in Q1
Macau held 425 events in the January-March period.
Macau.- The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has reported that the number of Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) events in Macau remained steady in the first quarter of 2026 at 425. However, although the number of participants in meetings and conferences rose by 30 per cent, the overall number of MICE participants and attendees decreased by 8.7 per cent year-on-year to 181,000 as the number of exhibitions saw a small drop.
There were 399 meetings and conferences in the first quarter, unchanged from the same quarter last year. The number of participants (49,000) saw a 33.3 per cent rise. Corporate Meetings increased by 11.6 per cent, with the number of participants rising by 75.1 per cent to 29,000.
Meanwhile, the number of exhibitions was down by 1 to 11, with 128,000 attendees (-20 per cent). The exhibitions attracted 819 exhibitors and 11,173 professional visitors. International exhibitors and professional visitors accounted for 9 per cent and 3 per cent of the respective totals, up by 2.5 and 1 percentage points year-on-year. The number of incentives rose up by 1 year-on-year to 15, with participants up by 273 per cent to 3,435.
MICE-driven receipts for non-gaming industries in the Macao Special Administrative Region grew by 29.4 per cent year-on-year to MOP841m (US$104.4m).
