Kangwon Land receives green light for updates in foreigner-only gaming operations

The approved changes include the addition of two new machine games.

South Korea.- The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has approved Kangwon Land’s casino business change report and the revised Operational Rules for the Foreigner-Only Gaming Floor.

Among the changes is the addition of two new machine games on the foreigner-only floor, raising the number from 1,610 to 1,612. The updated breakdown comprises 60 slot machines and 1,552 video machines. Changes also include the introduction of a new maximum betting limit.

The annexe table on Game Types and Betting Limits establishes a new maximum betting limit of KRW50,000 (US$36). This applies specifically to the newly added games. In addition, two foreign exchange machines will be installed, one near the fourth-floor exchange counter and another within the fifth-floor foreigner-only gaming floor. 

Kangwon Land is South Korea’s only casino that permits local citizens.In July, the company announced it has pushed back the opening of a second casino from late 2027 to early 2028. The five-level structure, including two basement and three above-ground floors, will cover 18,430 square metres and house both gaming and non-gaming zones. It will add 50 tables and 250 gaming machines to the resort’s portfolio, bringing the total to 250 tables and 1,610 machines.
