Kangwon Land closure extended
The casino in Jeongseon-gun has been closed since August 23 due to heightened measures against Covid-19.
South Korea.- Kangwon Land casino has once again extended its period of closure owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The only casino where South Koreans can legally gamble was due to reopen on September 7, but excecutives have extended the closure until September 21.
The casino in Jeongseong-un province had reopened for VIPs in May. closed again on August 23 after a spike in Covid-19 cases.
It expects a loss of KRW36.4 billion (US$30.6 million) due to the closure from August 23 to September 21.
The South Korea health authorities have raised the level of alert from 2 to 2.5, which means limits on some business operations in the capital Seoul.
By Friday, South Korea had accumulated 20,842 cases of Covid-19 infections, 198 of them in the preceding 24 hours.
