South Korea’s only casino for locals to legally gamble, Kangwon Land, is to reopen after being forced to close due to Covid-19.
South Korea.- South Korea’s only casino for locals to legally gamble, Kangwon Land, is to resume its operations tomorrow (May 8) following the Coronavirus crisis.
The casino has been closed since February 23 following the outbreak of Covid-19 in South Korea.
The closure for Kangwon Land was only the second time that the casino has shut its doors to the public in its history.
It previously closed for one day in 2012 to check security cameras following a security breach.
The operator said in a filing on Thursday to the Korea Stock Exchange that its total losses during the closure are estimated to be KRW267.8 billion (US$218.6million) based on average daily casino sales in 2019.
