South Korea.- Jeju Dream Tower Casino saw a new record of 66,393 visitors in September, but an unusually low table hold rate drove net gaming revenue down 37.7 per cent month-on-month to KRW29.09bn (US$21.9m). The table drop was KRW237.82bn (US$178.8m).
According to a regulatory filing from operator Lotte Tour Development, net casino revenue was down 45.1 per cent compared to September last year. Table games accounted for KRW25.78bn (US$19.4m), while gaming machines brought in KRW3.31bn (US$2.5m). However, luck favoured the players with the hold rate down to 10.84 per cent, well below the 20 per cent average of the past 12 months.
For the third quarter, Jeju Dream Tower generated KRW175.90bn (US$132.3m) in combined resort revenue. The quarterly table drop grew 17.4 per cent to KRW748.40bn (US$562.7m). Visitation reached a record 188,147. Quarterly casino net revenue was down 13.4 per cent to KRW127.30bn (US$95.7m).
Management expects a strong fourth quarter, driven by hotel occupancy approaching 94 per cent during China’s Golden Week holiday and an increase in international direct flights to Jeju Island starting in October.
