IPI appoints Chen Feng as joint chairman and executive director
The company has also announced the appointment of Chi Yuan as an independent non-executive director.
Northern Mariana Islands.- Imperial Pacific International (IPI) has announced the appointment of Chen Feng as co-chairman and general manager. Feng has held various finance-related positions in companies such as Fuzhou Zhongwei Industrial Co. and Xiamen Lurun Financial Management Consulting Co.
Meanwhile, Chi Yuan will join IPI as an independent non-executive director. Since 2007, he has held financial management roles in China, including food manufacturing, textile manufacturing, footwear and hospitality.
The appointment period is for two years and both appointments are effective from March 25.
Several senior IPI executives have left the company amid its various difficulties, with chief executive announcing his resignation in February after just a year in the job. Authorities on the Northern Mariana Islands will decide in May whether to revoke the company’s currently suspended licence.
Last week, the casino operator told its remaining employees that it had been unable to pay their utility bills. Some security personnel and construction workers live in an IPI-provided apartment in Garapan, but IPI says it’s been able to pay this month’s bills. It said relocation options would be offered.
IPI currently has 15 construction workers tasked with removing tower cranes from unfinished buildings at its casino hotel in Garapan, plus 17 security guards maintaining the venue and warehouses in San Antonio and Lower Base and eight administrative staff at an office at Flame Tree in Sadog Tasi.
