Imperial Pacific will not meet deadline for new casino resort

Imperial Pacific’s resort in Garapan will not complete on time, the Commonwealth Casino Commission has said.

Northern Mariana Islands.- Imperial Pacific International will not meet the deadline to finish its new rcasino esort in Garapan by February 28, according to the Commonwealth Casino Commission.

The commission described a presentation on the company’s progress given by IPI chief engineer Eric Poon as “alarming”.

The director of the Commission, Andrew Yeom said it was “quite alarming and very concerning” that the construction milestones schedule had been changed.

As the casino licence agreement sets a timeline for IPI to finish the project, Yeom said any change to the schedule would be a serious breach of contract.

He told Poon: “You only have about a month to go. So please do something about it.”

He added: “If there are no amendments [to the CLA], that is obviously going to be a serious breach of contract.”
