GKL extends Seven Luck Seoul Gangnam closure again

Grand Korea Leisure has extended the temporary closure of the Seven Luck Seoul Gangnam until Monday due to new Covid-19 cases among its staff.

South Korea.- Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has announced the temporary closure of its Seven Luck Seoul Gangnam will be in place until January 10.

The closure was supposed to be until January 7 to carry out disinfection after eight workers tested positive for Covid-19. However, the company decided to extend it due to new Covid-19 cases detected.

It is still unknown if the temporary closure will be extended again amid a rise of Covid-19 cases in the country.

The South Korean operator of foreigner-only casinos has recently shared its financial results for the year 2021 during which it posted casino sales of KRW89.58bn (US$74.9m).

The figure was down 51.8 per cent when compared to the previous year and although the company didn’t explain the reasons for the decline, casinos were deeply affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the lack of tourist visitors.

Table game sales were down 54.1 per cent year-on-year to KRW74.43bn while machine game sales were down 36.8 per cent year-on-year to KRW15.24bn.
