Fifth Macau casino to grant employee bonuses

Galaxy Entertainment has become the latest casino operator in Macau casinos to grant a one-off bonus to employees.

Macau.- Five of the largest casinos operators in Macau have now committed to grant annual bonuses to at least part of their staff for 2020 performance.

Last week, Wynn Macau, Melco and MGM China confirmed they would give non-management employees the equivalent of a month’s salary.

Wynn Macau will grant bonuses to 98.5 per cent of its staff at both Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace. The other two operators said they would grant bonuses to selected non-management employees.

SJM Holdings also announced that it would continue to provide its annual living subsidy for employees.

Now Galaxy Entertainment Group has grante a one-off payment equivalent to a month’s salary for eligible team members.

It said it would grant the payment to around 98 per cent of staff at its Macau casinos on February 10.

GEG Vice Chairman Francis Lui said: “Our expansion from 2021 and beyond will create tremendous opportunities to team members. Delivering this will have its challenges and difficulties at time, but working hard as a team and differentiating ourselves will be rewarding.”

The company said: “COVID-19 brings unprecedented challenges to GEG’s business and although the near-term outlook is still full of uncertainties, the company’s determination to continuous growth and development during such difficult times remains unwavering.”
