Coronavirus won’t delay Sands Cotai opening

Phase one of the complex and hotel will be ready by September 2020.

Macau.- In spite the Covid-19 crisis, the schedule for opening Sands China IR in Cotai is still on track.

Wilfred Wong Ying Wai, president of Sands China, confirmed at a company event that phase one of the complex will be ready for September of this year. He said construction work had not stopped and good progress was being made because of low football in the city.

The Sands Cotai central casino complex will be a British-themed resort with 600-suite Four Seasons hotel called the Londoner Macao at what used to be the Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central.

Wong added that the firm expects the launch to coincide with government measures to attract visitors to Macau.

Sands China, which belongs to the US-based Las Vegas Sands Corp, has invested US$1.35 billion in the project.
