City of Dreams to reopen hotel before Chinese New Year

The Nüwa hotel at the casino resort complex in Macau will reopen after refurbishment in time for the holiday period.

Macau.- After almost a year of refurbishments, the Nüwa hotel at the City of Dreams casino resort in Macau will reopen on February 8, just in time for the Chinese New Year holiday, which this year runs from February 11 to 17 inclusive.

The latest update on City of Dreams’ website states that the revamped hotel will have 300 accommodation units, including 33 luxury villas.

The Chinese lunar New Year, also known as the spring Golden Week is normally a busy period for gaming tourism in the SAR.

In Melco Resorts’ third-quarter earnings report in November, Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, chairman and chief executive, said the revamped Nüwa would open before the lunar New Year.

In its interim report, Melco International announced another project at City of Dreams, The Countdown hotel, will also be redeveloped. The hotel will be rebranded as Libertine, although the company did not outline a schedule for the work.
