China to launch global anti-fraud alliance with support from over 40 countries
The initiative is expected to strengthen cross-border cooperation against transnational criminal networks, including illegal online gambling.
China.- The Ministry of Public Security has announced the creation of a new international intergovernmental organisation aimed at combating telecommunications and online fraud. The initiative is expected to be launched in September during the 2026 Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province.
The organisation is expected to bring together law enforcement agencies to enhance intelligence sharing, coordinate investigations and carry out joint operations against cross-border fraud networks. More than 40 countries have reportedly expressed their intention to participate, but no details have been released regarding the alliance’s membership or structure.
Chinese authorities identified telecommunications and online fraud as a public security priority under the country’s 2026-2030 Five-Year Plan. Meanwhile, a recent United Nations report identified Chinese-origin criminal organisations as major operators of cyber-enabled scam networks across parts of Southeast Asia.
