Cambodia to lead regional casino recovery, says report

Cambodia is expected to play a major role in the recovery of land-based gaming in the Asia Pacific region, a consultancy says.

Cambodia.- A report conducted by the consultancy Colliers International predicts that Cambodia, along with Macau, will lead the recovery of land-based gaming in the Asia Pacific region.

The South East Asian country is estimated to hit 60 per cent of its 2019 pre-pandemic base in the third quarter of 2021.

Govinda Singh, Colliers executive director and head of hotels and leisure, said: “As governments across the region grapple with paying for the Covid-19 fallout, it is no surprise that many are turning to integrated resorts to generate revenue and employment.”

“The global economic outlook is expected to improve by H2 2021, with travel to rebound over the next three years to at least pre-Covid-19 levels.”

Meanwhile, analysts at the investment insights platform Smartkarma have issued a “buy” signal for stocks of the Cambodian integrated resorts company NagaCorp.
