Cambodia prepares for nationwide casino compliance evaluations
The CGMC is advancing plans for nationwide casino inspections as part of an effort to strengthen regulatory oversight and compliance.
Cambodia.- The Cambodian gaming regulator is preparing to launch nationwide casino compliance evaluations in a bid to strengthen oversight of the country’s commercial gambling industry. The Commercial Gambling Management Commission of Cambodia (CGMC) said officials met on July 20 to review preparations for the inspections, but it has not disclosed when inspections will begin, how many casinos will be inspected or the assessment criteria.
A June directive from CGMC Chairman Aun Pornmoniroth ordered inspections to verify casinos’ licensing status and warned that operators involved in online fraud or other illegal activities could have their licences revoked.
Chaired by CGMC Secretary General Yeth Vinel, Monday’s meeting also focused on priorities for the second half of 2026 and the strategic plan for 2027–2030.
