Cambodia allows casinos in Sihanoukville to reopen
Cambodia’s casinos are slowly going back to normal after four months of closure due to Covid-19 measures.
Cambodia.- Health authorities will allow casinos in Sihanoukville to reopen after more than four months of closure due to the pandemic.
According to local press, the Cambodian health ministry has given the green light to casinos to begin a phased reopening.
Casinos will be permitted to resume operations one province at a time –a process is intended to allow officials to monitor that Covid-19 is not being spread in each district.
After Sihanoukville, another province will be allowed to reopen in September.
QueenCo casino was already resumed operations last week after the Health Ministry gave the OK to its Covid-19 protocols.
All casinos had to shutdown on April 1. Although Prime Minister Hun Sen said properties would be allowed to operate from July 3, the process has been delayed.
NagaCorp’s Nagaworld was the first to reopen and Donaco International said it hopes to reopen its Star Vegas property in the coming weeks.
All venues have to undergo an inspection by the Ministry of Health to ensure they have imposed Covid-19 protocols.
