Belle Corp net income up 84% for the first nine months of 2021

Belle Corp has reported net income of PHP693.5m (US$13.8m) for the first nine months of the year, up 84 per cent when compared to 2020.

The Philippines.- The tourism and leisure developer Belle Corp, a co-licensee of City of Dreams in Manila, has reported net income of PHP693.5m (US$13.8m) between January to September 2021. However, it has also posted a loss of PHP351.3m compared to profit of PHP72.2m in the same period in 2020.

The company attributed the loss to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lack of tourists. The company’s share of gaming revenues from City of Dreams Manila increased to PHP967.2m from PHP324.8m as casino operations improved after being allowed to reopen with limitations.

Although President Duterte’s spokesperson Harry Roque said casino venues will not reopen during Manila’s transition to Level 3 of Covid-19 restrictions, some casinos have now resumed operations.

According to local media reports, the casino operators have received authorisation from the Inter-Agency Task Force. City of Dreams Manila said its casino venue is operating at 75 per cent capacity and vaccination is not necessary for customers. It has also increased dining capacities in restaurants and reopened other facilities.
