Bee Macau holds opening event at card factory
The Bee Macau factory was developed with an investment of HK$500m (US$64.4m).
Macau.- Bee Macau has held an inauguration ceremony for the Macau card factory it opened back in May. The joint venture between Belgium-based Cartamundi and Asia Pioneer Entertainment Holdings (APE) involved an investment of approximately HKD500m (US$63.8m).
The facility incorporates automated production lines, robotics and AI-assisted quality control, as well as product authentication and track-and-trace technology. The company also highlighted sustainable packaging solutions. The factory produces the new Bee 68 playing cards, featuring embedded tracking capabilities, alongside the Bee Click-Shoe, an “innovative cartridge system” designed to improve transparency. Select Bee casino card decks will carry the “Made in Macau” label.
Cartamundi CEO Stefaan Merckx said: “By bringing advanced manufacturing capabilities closer to customers in Macau and across Asia-Pacific, we can serve them with the speed, quality, security and reliability they expect from us.”
Herman Ng, CEO and executive director of APE, added: “For more than a century, Bee cards were imported into Asia. Today, these internationally recognised products are being manufactured here, in Macau. The playing cards produced here in Macau will be distributed across the globe, demonstrating the strength and uncompromising quality of the Macau Standard.”
