No Australian bookmaker leads on price in every sport and market, WagerWise study finds

The analysis found Sportsbet had the highest overall best-price rate among the four qualifying operators, while other bookmakers led specific markets.

Key takeaways:

  • WagerWise, a subscription betting-software service that sells tools for price comparison and arbitrage conducted a study into Australian bookmaker pricing
  • Sportsbet recorded the highest overall best-price rate, while Betr led handicap prices, Dabble led moneyline and Bet365 led totals.
  • The market-best price added an average A$19.61 (US$14.16) in gross return to a winning A$100 (US$72.19) wager.
  • The sample covers events dated February 17-21, 2026 and 15 Australian-facing feeds.

Australia.- A pricing study covering 18,496 eligible prices across 15 Australian-facing bookmaker feeds and 180 sporting events, conducted between February 17 and 21, 2026, found that no single bookmaker consistently offered the highest displayed price across the markets examined. The analysis was carried out by WagerWise, a subscription betting-software service that sells punters tools for price comparison, arbitrage and positive-EV betting.

Sportsbet recorded the highest overall best-price rate, at 21.4 per cent, though its lead over the second-placed operator was not statistically significant. The gap between the best and worst available price added an average A$19.61 (US$14.16) in gross return to a winning A$100 (US$72.19) wager. Dabble followed at 19.1 per cent, while Unibet and TABtouch recorded 15.0 per cent and 13.6 per cent, respectively.

The study generated 2,914 exact comparison groups and used prices recorded one hour before scheduled start for its primary analysis.

The ranking was limited to bookmakers with at least 1,000 comparisons, 50 events, two adequately sampled sports and 10 per cent coverage of the comparison universe. Sportsbet’s result covered 2,424 comparisons across 141 events, while Dabble’s 19.1 per cent came from 1,912 comparisons across 172 events.

However, WagerWise said Sportsbet’s 2.3 percentage-point lead over Dabble was not statistically clear at 95 per cent, meaning the analysis did not establish a statistically clear difference between the two bookmakers.

Which bookmakers led individual markets?

The results varied by market, with Betr leading handicap prices at 26.7 per cent, Dabble leading moneyline at 23.6 per cent and Bet365 leading totals at 26.1 per cent. The market rankings required at least 100 eligible comparisons within each market and were separate from the overall bookmaker ranking.

For a price to enter a comparison, the event, market, selection and exact handicap or total line had to match across bookmakers. Each comparison group also required prices from at least five bookmakers, while exact ties for the highest price received fractional credit.

Across the sample:

  • a single bookmaker recorded the unique best displayed price in 54.4 per cent of comparison groups
  • two bookmakers shared the highest price in 31.2 per cent
  • three or more bookmakers tied in 14.4 per cent

How much did price differences affect returns?

WagerWise calculated that the market-best displayed price added an average A$19.61 (US$13.82) in gross return to a winning A$100 (US$70.45) wager compared with the observed bookmaker quote. The figure is a gross-return illustration rather than a measure of betting profit or expected value. WagerWise also noted that displayed prices could change, be restricted or be rejected when a bet was placed.

The company reconstructed prices at several points before events, including 24 hours, six hours, one hour and 10 minutes before the scheduled start. The one-hour checkpoint was used for the primary analysis. It should be noted that the findings represent pricing during a five-day period in February rather than current bookmaker behaviour. The study did not record stake limits, customer-specific restrictions or whether wagers were ultimately accepted.

WagerWise also excluded international reference feeds and did not publish its raw tick-level records or proprietary data-collection details. Rugby league was included in the wider dataset but did not meet the sample threshold for a separate sport-level ranking.
